Welcome students and families! The new school year has begun and our in-class and after-school programs are back. The video above summarizes the computer science and technology programs at Montessori Community School. I created it in 2018 and updated it summer 2022. Enjoy!
Mission
Working in the classroom and after school to supplement the outstanding Montessori Community School curriculum; to educate children in computer science and to support MCS as an unparalleled source of a Montessori education.

Purpose: Provide thorough computer science education and supplement school's curriculum with engaging after school activities.
Values: Critical thinking, logic and problem solving are our core values. At the heart of every segment, exercise and class lies these core values of critical thinking, logic, problem solving.
Focus: Making STEM interesting, gratifying, fun. Teach coding, critical thinking, logic, problem solving, and STEM to prepare our children to succeed in the 21st century. Foster teamwork, communication, leadership and follower-ship with the intent of the betterment of our world.
Our weekly computer science classes, weekly coding classes and after-school STEM will provide a well rounded computer science and technologies foundation. This fundamental knowledge will prepare our students for the 21st century.

Model solar system
A scale model of our solar system, with a 3 foot diameter Sun at MCS, would result in blueberry-sized Earth, peach-sized Jupiter, etc. in these approximate orbits.
we code everyday
In every after-school class, students code. Coding’s impact on our future should be proportionally represented in education. For not only will it continue to change the world, when we learn coding, we learn how to think.
